Goalies dazzle as Wild fall to Florida in a shootout
Sergei Bobrovski stopped Freddy Gaudreau's backhanded penalty shot to seal a 2-1 shootout win for the Florida Panthers over the Minnesota Wild in what was a goaltending clinic between Bobrovski and Filip Gustavsson.
The Wild killed seven Panthers power plays as Gustavsson stopped 33 shots Monday night. Bobrovski's pair of shootout saves was the difference on the night and gave Florida two big points in their hunt for a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The loss isn't all bad for the Wild as the overtime point sees them jump the Avalanche for third in the Central Division.
After Florida took a 1-0 lead early in the second period, Kirill Kaprizov answered three minutes later, with his 30th goal of the season tying the game and ultimately helping Minnesota pick up a point.
The Wild are back in action Wednesday night in Colorado with puck drop set for 8:30 p.m. on TNT.
