Ice at the Xcel Energy Center will be made with water from your backyard rink

The team is asking people to donate water from their favorite lakes, ponds and rivers.

Hey Wild fans, the Xcel Energy Center wants your water.

The Wild is asking people to donate water from their favorite local hockey ponds, lakes and rivers to be used to make the ice at the Xcel for the 2017-18 season.

To participate, all you have is fill up a portable container with no more than 3 ounces of water from your favorite rink and bring it to the Xcel Energy Center on Sept. 16 between 6 a.m.-3 p.m.

The water will be filtered and used the next day to help make the ice.

It's all part of the Wild's new This Is Our Ice campaign.

"Every winter, when our ponds and lakes freeze over, a rebirth happens as we embrace the frozen beauty of our state," Wild President Matt Majka said in a statement

"Lake bays become our hockey home, and everywhere you turn, kids young and old play pick-up hockey. That's what This Is Our Ice is all about – inviting fans throughout the State of Hockey to bring a piece of their hometown hockey heritage to our arena," Majka added.
