Nino Niederreiter agrees to deal with the Wild
Nino Niederreiter is staying in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Wild announced the deal with Niederreiter, who was a restricted free agent, on Sunday. The forward agreed to a five-year, $26.25 million contract.
"Nino has had a big impact on our club during the last four seasons and we're very happy to know that will continue in the future," Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement.
Last year, the 24-year-old tallied 57 points and 53 penalty minutes, and was only one of four Wild players to play in every game. He led the team in power-play goals, and was one of the team's leaders in multi-point games, goals scored, shots on goal, points, and penalty minutes.
"He's grown into his role as one of the offensive leaders of this group and his shot and net-front presence will continue to play a major role in our team's success. Nino has a great attitude and personality, and we know our fans will be as happy as we are about this news," Fletcher added.
In the four seasons he's played for the Wild, Niederreiter has scored 83 goals and has earned 173 points.
The only restricted free agents left for the Wild are Mikael Granlund and Marcus Foligno, the Star Tribune says.
