Zach Parise and his wife Alisha are the proud new parents of twins. Alisha gave birth to Jaxson and Emelia, as reported on the Minnesota Wild's Twitter feed.

In September, when the Parises found out they were having a boy and a girl, Zach said he was "shocked" but excited to "get the best of both worlds."

As Michael Russo noted, one of the main reasons Parise signed a 13-year deal with the Wild in 2011 was to start a family in his home state.

The New Jersey Devils, Parise's former team, said the twins were born on Wednesday – the same day fellow Minnesotan and Devils star Travis Zajac's second child was born.

KARE put like this: "Mr. Parise will now be using his golden hands to do something other than pass, shoot and score."

Alisha may want to employ a team of nannies while Zach is gone for the Olympics in Sochi, Russia next month. That is if he's healthy enough to participate for Team U.S.A. Parise remains on injured reserve with a broken foot. Parise and Wild defenseman Ryan Suter were recently named to the Olympic roster.

The Star Tribune reported earlier this week that Parise could resume skating in the very near future.

Parise joins Twins star first baseman Joe Mauer as local star athletes with twin babies. Mauer and his wife had twin girls, Maren and Emily, last July.
