Wild claim Declan Chisholm off waivers
The Minnesota Wild picked up defenseman Declan Chisholm off of waivers Monday.
Chisholm had been with Winnipeg since mid-November, appearing in two games and registering just one assist, but had been a healthy scratch in the Jets' last 23 games.
The 24-year-old was drafted by Winnipeg in the fifth-round of the 2018 draft. Chisholm has spent the majority of the past three seasons with Winnipeg's AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, where he's recorded 91 points (16 goals, 75 assists).
Chisholm looks to fit into a Wild defense that has seen every defenseman outside of Brock Faber and Jake Middleton miss time this season. The Wild are without captain Jared Spurgeon for the remainder of the season due to hip and shoulder surgery.
Minnesota will have time to see where Chisholm can fit in during the All-Star break; the Wild next suit up for a game Feb. 7 against Chicago.
