The Minnesota Wild have agreed to a contract extension with Ryan Hartman on a new deal that will pay him $12 million over the next three seasons with an annual average value (AAV) of $4 million per season.

Hartman has recorded 144 points (65 goals, 79 assists) in 261 games with the Wild over the past four seasons including a career-high 34 goals, 31 assists and 65 points during the 2021-22 season. But Hartman's totals dropped to 37 points (15 G, 22 A) in 59 games last season and he's averaged 10.3 goals, 16 assists and 26.3 points in his other three seasons in Minnesota.

Hartman's signing represents Bill Guerin's initiative to lock up the Wild's veteran core heading into the season. The Wild struck extensions with Mats Zuccarello (two years, $8.25 million) and Marcus Foligno (four years, $16 million) last week and all three players including Hartman were set to become unrestricted free agents at the end of the upcoming season.

The Wild open the regular season against the Florida Panthers at the Xcel Energy Center on Thursday night.
