We're more than halfway through the 2023 college football season with teams becoming bowl eligible and conference races heating up as the selection committee prepares to release its first top 25 rankings of the season in the very near future.

Some preseason national title contenders have played themselves out of playoff contention already as some brand-name schools have dropped two games in the first half of the season, but there's still plenty of competition with more parity across the sport this year than in most seasons.

LSU's odds to win: +4000

LSU's remaining games: at Alabama, vs. Florida, vs. Georgia State, vs. Texas A&M

Off this week, the Tigers prepare for the biggest game of the season, on the road to Alabama and with no margin for error in a fight at the top of the SEC West standings and already at two losses.

Oregon

Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix attempts a pass during a college football game.

Oregon's odds to win: +2800

Oregon's remaining games: at Utah, vs. Cal, vs. USC, at Arizona State, vs. Oregon State

The loss to Washington leaves no room for any more mistakes for the Ducks, who have enough on their plate with the second half of this schedule to get into the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Texas

Texas Longhorns tight end Gunnar Helm celebrates a touchdown during a college football game.
USA Today Images

Texas' odds to win: +2500

Texas' remaining games: vs. BYU, vs. Kansas State, at TCU, at Iowa State, vs. Texas Tech

The injury to quarterback Quinn Ewers is something to watch going forward as the Longhorns look to run the rest of the table and get a shot at the Big 12 title, likely in a rematch with Oklahoma.

Alabama

Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver JaCorey Brooks catches a pass during a college football game in the SEC.
USA Today Images

Alabama's odds to win: +1400

Alabama's remaining games: vs. LSU, at Kentucky, vs. Chattanooga, at Auburn

Bama has recovered well enough since the Texas loss to start 5-0 in SEC play thanks to the play of dual threat quarterback Jalen Milroe, but can the line protection hold up in the final four games and knock off Georgia in the SEC title game?

Washington

Washington's odds to win: +1300

Washington's remaining games: at Stanford, at USC, vs. Utah, at Oregon State, vs. Washington State

A tough-looking schedule to close out the second half of the season, and while the Huskies' offense can strike from anywhere behind quarterback Michael Penix, last week's performance against Arizona State gives us pause.

Oklahoma

Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Nic Anderson celebrates a touchdown during a college football game.
USA Today Images

Oklahoma's odds to win: +1300

Oklahoma's remaining games: at Kansas, at Oklahoma State, vs. West Virginia, at BYU, vs. TCU

The win over Texas at the Cotton Bowl was one of the most important statements by any team this season, and while the Sooners are still undefeated, they're coming off a 2-point victory at home against UCF and go into two straight road games.

Florida State

Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis attempts a pass during a college football game.
USA Today Images

Florida State's odds to win: +700

Florida State's remaining games: at Wake Forest, at Pittsburgh, vs. Miami, vs. North Alabama, at Florida

The Seminoles stayed perfect this week with a come-from-behind victory against a ranked Duke team at home, pulling away in the second half to stay at No. 1 in the ACC standings. And looking at the schedule, they have a chance to pull off an undefeated season.

Ohio State

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison, Jr. catches a pass during a college football game in the Big Ten.
USA Today Images

Ohio State's odds to win: +700

Ohio State's remaining games: at Wisconsin, at Rutgers, vs. Michigan State, vs. Minnesota, at Michigan

The Buckeyes have passed two critical tests against top 10 ranked opponents, knocking off Notre Dame and Penn State to stay undefeated, but The Game awaits as the biggest test of the season yet again.

Georgia

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck attempts a pass during a college football game in the SEC.
USA Today Images

Georgia's odds to win: +250

Georgia's remaining games: vs. Florida, vs. Missouri, vs. Ole Miss, at Tennessee, at Georgia Tech

College football's defending champs have improved somewhat in their slow starts this season, but the absence of injured star tight end Brock Bowers is a major concern for the offense to maintain that momentum, especially with an expected three ranked teams upcoming in the final five games.

Michigan

Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Roman Wilson catches a pass during a college football game in the Big Ten.
USA Today Images

Michigan's odds to win: +250

Michigan's remaining games: vs. Purdue, at Penn State, at Maryland, vs. Ohio State

Off this week after a barnstorming 8-0 start, scoring more than 40 points in the last four games and more than 50 in two of them, the Wolverines boast a top 10 scoring attack and the No. 1 scoring defense, but a critical trip to Happy Valley awaits in a few weeks.
