College football recruiting: New prediction for No. 1 player Dylan Raiola
Dylan Raiola shocked the college football recruiting world when he de-committed from Ohio State, leaving the Buckeyes in the lurch in the race for the near-consensus No. 1 overall player in the class of 2024.
And with that decision, a furious marketplace opened up for the five-star quarterback out of Phoenix, with three apparent suitors moving into position to sign the player.
Who's in the lead right now? That honor belongs to Georgia, which currently has the best odds to earn Raiola's commitment, according to the On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine, which uses machine learning to make recruiting projections.
2024 College Football Recruiting Team Rankings
Who's in the race?
Currently, the Bulldogs have a 56.8 percent chance to sign the quarterback. USC comes in second place at 30.2 percent, and Ohio State is third at 6.1 percent.
Nebraska, considered a favorite so far, has moved down to fourth place on the RPM projections, with the Cornhuskers sitting at 4.9 percent.
The quarterback's father, Dominic, was a Rimington Trophy award winner at Nebraska and his uncle is currently the offensive line coach with the Cornhuskers.
Raiola also met with USC head coach Lincoln Riley and current Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams when in Los Angeles recently.
But Georgia has reportedly earned Raiola's interest as the site of his first official visit after he spoke very highly about the program after the national championship.
Dylan Raiola recruiting profile
The five-star quarterback passed for 3,241 yards with 32 touchdown passes and rushed for nine additional scores in 12 games as a sophomore.
Raiola hit over 64 percent of his throws for 2,435 yards with 22 touchdowns with five interceptions in his junior campaign.
All four major recruiting services — 247Sports, Rivals, ESPN, and On3 Sports — call Raiola the No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 cycle.
Three of the four named him the No. 1 overall prospect in the class, with On3 dissenting, calling Raiola the No. 7 overall player.
