The close calls finally caught up to Oklahoma this weekend as the No. 6 ranked Sooners dropped a stunning decision to unranked conference rival Kansas on the road on Saturday. The loss drops OU to 7-1 on the season and makes the race at the top of the Big 12 title chase a little more interesting.

And, by consequence, it affects how the College Football Playoff rankings will look when the selection committee reveals their first poll on Halloween night, all but ensuring the Big 12 won't have a team in the top four.

Let's take a look into the future and predict what the College Football Playoff might look like now, after the Sooners loss and some upheaval at the top of the rankings.

Predicting the College Football Playoff

4. Ohio StateWe predict that Washington will enter the Pac-12 title in contention to qualify for the playoff, but will lose that game in a rematch against Oregon, which will move the selection committee to leave the Huskies out, and possibly pave the way for Ohio State, which we project will lose to Michigan, to move into the final No. 4 position with two other top-10 wins under its belt, against Notre Dame and Penn State.

3. Florida State. The Seminoles have found a genuine rhythm this season, moving to 8-0 after a big win over Wake and looking over the schedule, there's a real chance they can run the table and win the ACC championship. Only a home tilt against Miami in two weeks appears to be a threat the rest of the way.

2. Michigan. All signs point to the Wolverines making it three straight Big Ten titles as they build momentum against an overmatched schedule and most books are naming Michigan a favorite in early projections against Ohio State. But with the Sooners and Longhorns, one of whom should win the Big 12, hovering around the top 10, and the Pac-12 a genuine threat to get a one-loss champion into the semifinal, the Wolverines have to be on guard to not slip up late in the season.

1. Georgia. Despite some rumors that the selectors may drop the Bulldogs owing to the lack of any statement wins as of yet, starting off undefeated and playing some of the nation's best defense should mean the defending champs maintain their hold on the No. 1 spot, but three big tests against ranked SEC opponents will clear things up.
