For the most part, ranked teams did their job on Saturday, going 22-2 on the day, although the nation's marquee brands struggled, including a scare for Florida State against Boston College, defending champion Georgia needing a comeback in the SEC opener, and Alabama looking extremely un-Alabama-like in a close, clumsy win over USF. Now, after a weird and wild weekend, it's time to update the AP top 25 college football rankings.

Alabama (Down 3). A win is a win, but the Crimson Tide did not look their usual selves in a 17-3 result at USF behind a stumbling offense that couldn't keep the pocket clean and with two quarterbacks who struggled badly.

Colorado (Down 1). The Buffs stayed perfect in a double-overtime win over rival Colorado State, but were down two possessions in that game before mounting the comeback, and now oddsmakers are concerned heading into the Oregon game.

Tennessee (Down 12). A fall from grace for the Volunteers, who in another loss at Florida proved that the offense is still a work in progress from the unit that ranked No. 1 in college football a year ago but lost key playmakers to the draft.
