Alabama football is set to take the field shortly and begin its SEC title defense and prepare for another run at the College Football Playoff in 2022.

The school has announced its 15-day spring schedule for this year's preseason. Alabama will return on Friday, March 11 before taking nine days off for Spring Break.

The team returns on Monday, March 21 and will practice 12 more times leading up to the annual 2022 Golden Flake A-Day Spring Game on Saturday, April 16.

Head coach Nick Saban will meet with the media eight times to update fans on the team's progress. He will speak publicly after the first day and following the spring game, as well.

All of the Crimson Tide's football practices will be closed to the public and media, with the exception of the spring game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama will return 13 starters combined on both sides of the ball in 2022. Five of those returning starters will be on offense, and eight on defense. The team also added 13 early enrollees from its 2022 recruiting class.

Alabama also welcomes three high profile players from the transfer portal: wide receiver Jermaine Burton, cornerback Eli Ricks, and running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Burton led Georgia last season in receiving en route to winning the national championship. Gibbs arrives from Georgia Tech as college football's career leader in total yards among active players. Ricks is one of the most widely respected defensive backs in the nation who decided to move from LSU after Ed Orgeron left the school.
