Colorado Football Commit Omar White Charged After Shootings
Four-star Colorado football commit Omar White is facing charges after being taken into custody for three alleged felonies related to shootings.
Detectives in the state of Georgia obtained arrest warrants for the 17-year-old and another man, according to a report from the Valdosta (Ga.) Daily Times.
White faces charges including: felony aggravated assault, felony aggravated battery, and felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Police responded to a pair of separate but related shootings after midnight on the morning of Feb. 26.
The report noted that White was taken into custody without incident.
A junior defensive tackle at Valdosta, White committed to Colorado and first-year football coach Deion Sanders on Dec. 26.
White currently ranks as the No. 5 ranked commitment for the Buffaloes program as it builds its 2024 football recruiting class.
White was named the Region 1-7A Defensive Player of the Year last season.
All three of the victims of the alleged shooting have been treated and released from the hospital, according to local police.
