Donald Trump to attend Iowa vs. Iowa State college football game on Saturday
All eyes are on the state of Iowa when it comes to politics as the Republican presidential hopefuls are touring the state, but former President Donald Trump will go one step further, attending the Iowa vs. Iowa State college football game on Saturday.
“We’re thrilled to invite Donald J. Trump to the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game this weekend,” former Iowa tight end and former acting US Attorney General Matt Whitaker said in a press release. “President Trump attended this game in 2015 and remembers the incredible passion and electricity of the fans.”
The game will be the 70th meeting between the Hawkeyes and Cyclones in a Midwestern football classic that dates back to 1894.

Iowa State won last season's meeting in Iowa City, 10-7, breaking a streak of six wins by the Hawkeyes before then.
Iowa entered the season at No. 25 in the AP top 25 football rankings but fell out of the polls this week despite winning its season opener. Neither team is ranked this week.
Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz had a notably neutral response to the news of Trump's impending arrival at the game.
"That's great," he said. "There's gonna be about 60,000 other people there."
