Dylan Raiola, the five-star quarterback and consensus No. 1 prospect in the 2024 college football recruiting rankings, will transfer to Buford High School in the state of Georgia to play his senior year before attending UGA.

Raiola transferred to Pinnacle (Ariz.) at the start of the year after playing his junior season at Chandler (Ariz.) and, if he elected to stay at Pinnacle, the state would have forced him to serve a five-game suspension according to its in-state transfer policy.

"After meeting with Pinnacle's leadership and specifically their head coach, he didn't have much confidence in Dylan not having to sit any games and Dylan wants to play a full senior season," Raiola's father Dominic told 247Sports.

He added, "When he committed to Georgia, that allowed us to be closer to where he's going to spend the next four years of his life and enroll and be free and clear to play the whole season and compete."

Raiola made the commitment of the 2024 cycle when he announced his pledge to defending national champion Georgia after having de-committed from Ohio State last December, emerging as the most important gain for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.

Buford is a city of about 17,000 people northeast of Atlanta and northwest of Athens and its high school football team already boasts a pair of football prospects listed as five-stars: athlete Khalil Bolden and defensive end Eddrick Houston.

Bolden is considered a top-10 player forecasted to play safety and is projected to also attend Georgia, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Houston is a top-30 recruit and top-five defensive lineman who is leaning towards Ohio State.

Raiola recruiting profile

The five-star quarterback passed for 3,241 yards with 32 touchdown passes and rushed for nine additional scores in 12 games as a sophomore.

Raiola hit over 64 percent of his throws for 2,435 yards with 22 touchdowns with five interceptions in his junior campaign.

All four major recruiting services — 247Sports, Rivals, ESPN, and On3 Sports — call Raiola the No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 cycle.

Three of the four named him the No. 1 overall prospect in the class, with On3 dissenting, calling Raiola the No. 7 overall player.
