Details Emerge on Georgia Football Star Stetson Bennett Arrest
Georgia football star and two-time national champion Stetson Bennett was arrested last month in Dallas on a public intoxication charge.
Now, we're getting some more details about what actually happened that night.
Bennett was spotted walking around in a gated area, according to new information obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald.
What the police report said
He was reportedly observed "walking further back in the gated area to hide behind a brick wall by a random [apartment] in attempt to possibly avoid [the arresting officers] detection," according to the police incident report.
Dallas police were responding to a report of Bennett banging on doors that night after 3 a.m. local time.
Officers announced their presence multiple times and asked Bennett to come out from behind the wall and to show his hands while doing so.
Bennett complied with the order and was put in handcuffs due to his originally attempting to hide himself from the officers.
Bennett identified himself and said he was unable to call a friend who he claimed lived at the location, though he was unable to give authorities the friend's address.
