Jimbo Fisher torches Nick Saban after his NIL comments: "We're done"
It's safe to say the relationship between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher is over.
Saban claimed that Fisher and Texas A&M "bought every player on their team" in bombshell comments this week, and on Thursday, Fisher responded directly.
“It’s a shame we have to do this. It’s despicable someone can say something about someone, and more importantly, 17-year-old kids,” Fisher said.
“It’s despicable that a reputable head coach would come out and say this when things don’t go his way. … The narcissist in him doesn’t let this happen.”
Fisher then directly alluded to what he believes are some unethical actions in Saban's past.
“Go dig in to wherever he’s been. You can find out everything. It’s a shame,” Fisher continued. “Some people think they’re God. Go dig into how God did his deal.”
Fisher said that Saban called him to address the comments, but he didn't answer.
“He’s called,” Fisher said. “Not going to. We’re done.”
Fisher then cited working with Bobby Bowden, and how that coach taught him how to do things the right way, adding that there are reasons why he didn't go back to coach under Saban.
“There’s a reason I didn’t go back to work with him,” Fisher said. “I don’t want to be associated with him.”
Texas A&M visits Alabama on Oct. 8.
