Ohio State vs. Maryland game: Update on TreVeyon Henderson injury
Ohio State appears to have received some good injury news this week as running back TreVeyon Henderson is expected to return on Saturday against Maryland, according to multiple reports.
A lingering foot injury kept Henderson out of Ohio State's game against Indiana last week and the team's outing at Northwestern prior to that.
Henderson's return is a major boost for the Buckeyes' offense, as he hasn't played since the team's win at Penn State on Oct. 29, when he scored two second-half touchdowns to spur on Ohio State's come-from-behind victory.
Considered one of the premier players at the position nationally, Henderson averages 5.8 yards per carry and has scored six touchdowns.
Henderson's return, however, is marked by the absence of backup tailback Miyan Williams, who left last Saturday's game against Indiana with a lower body injury. Williams needed help getting off the field and was eventually carted to the locker room, only to return to the sideline with his foot in a boot and using crutches.
Williams performed well in reserve amid Henderson's absence, averaging 6.7 yards per rushing attempt with 13 touchdowns.
How to watch: Ohio State vs. Maryland predictions, game time, schedule
Ohio State moved to freshman Dallan Hayden after Williams' absence last week. He ran for a career-best 102 yards.
Analysts expect that Williams will be able to return fully or mostly healthy in time for Ohio State's regular season finale against rival Michigan.
The Buckeyes and Wolverines come into Week 12 ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in the College Football Playoff rankings and their meeting will determine the Big Ten East champion and likely the conference's sole entrant into the playoff provided it can stay undefeated win the league championship.
