Losing a third straight game against Michigan, always understood to be the most important date on the schedule, Ohio State football coach Ryan Day is feeling some heat, from the media, from fans, and even from former Buckeyes on social media.

Despite going 56-7 overall at the helm of the Ohio State program, Day has kept the team from the Big Ten title game in those three seasons, falling to 1-3 in the series, and doubtless there will be those calling for his job. But former OSU coach Urban Meyer isn't one of them.

"No, he is not under fire," Meyer said on the Fox network after the game. "As far as job security, no, he's not. Reality is, is he under fire? Yeah, he is. He lives in Columbus, Ohio. And he's the Ohio State head football coach. And that's real.

Meyer added: "You just feel for the families, you feel for Ryan Day's family. But it's a big boy business. He's a big boy. He'll handle it, come back, and you know what, go back in January, get back to work. Find a way to beat the Wolverines. That's the whole focus."

Meyer went 7-0 against Michigan during his tenure as Ohio State head coach, with Day on his staff as offensive coordinator from 2017 to 2018 before he was promoted to lead the program after Meyer's departure.

Former Ohio State tailback Maurice Clarett and former Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor both vented after the game.

Pryor longed for the days when Jim Tressel ran the program.

While Day has won a lot of games in his tenure, boasting an .889 winning percentage, the few losses he's suffered have been high-profile. Three of them have come in the postseason, another three to Michigan, and one at home to Oregon.

And while it's unlikely that Ohio State would make a move now, it's a sure thing the school is getting less tolerant of his results.
