Travis Hunter injury update: Colorado football star taken to hospital during game
Colorado football star Travis Hunter will miss the next few weeks after sustaining an undisclosed injury that resulted in him being taken to the hospital during the team's double-overtime win against Colorado State, head coach Deion Sanders said.
Hunter absorbed a violent hit from CSU safety Henry Blackburn in the first quarter of the matchup and remained down on the field to receive attention from team trainers. Officials called Blackburn for unnecessary roughness. Hunter briefly returned to the game before being pulled from the field and taken from the stadium.
It wasn't made clear whether the Blackburn hit was the reason for Hunter leaving the game and receiving medical attention, but the play was one of several that highlighted the intense nature of the in-state rivalry game, with Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders getting in Blackburn's face after the collision in defense of his teammate.
Hunter was one of the key transfer portal additions made by Colorado when the school hired Deion Sanders as head coach. He originally pledged to Sanders at Jackson State as a five-star, top-ranked cornerback prospect and elected to follow the coach to the Buffaloes for this season.
Colorado came from behind to defeat rival Colorado State in double overtime on Saturday, preserving its undefeated record with a date against Oregon coming next weekend.
