Nick Saban retired this offseason, cementing his legacy as the greatest head coach in college football history, but the former Alabama coach will make his national TV debut during an event connected to the NFL, we have learned.

Although Saban will join ESPN's College GameDay as a host this football season, he will make his first appearance on the network during the NFL Draft later this month.

Saban will be joined at the site of the draft in Detroit alongside long-time ESPN personalities Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Field Yates, Laura Rutledge, and Pete Thamel.

And from there, he'll look ahead to a role with ESPN's flagship college football program.

"ESPN and College GameDay have played such an important role in the growth of college football, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to join their team," Saban said in February.

He added: "I'll do my best to offer additional insights and perspectives to contribute to College GameDay, the ultimate Saturday tradition for college football fans."

Saban retired from coaching after leading Alabama to six national championships and helping turn the Crimson Tide into the most accomplished college football program of the 21st century, and arguably in the sport's entire history.

Now, he'll bring the insight and experience he cultivated during that legendary run to TV screens this spring and fall.
