The Baltimore Orioles shut out the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night by a score of 7-0, evening the first two games of the series.

Starting on short notice because of an issue with Jack Flaherty, Dean Kremer went 6.0 innings, allowing just five hits and no walks while striking out five.

He's now 12-5 on the season and owns a 4.31 ERA.

With the Orioles win, they continue their streak of not getting swept, and continue to move up the record books.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

most consecutive series of 2+ games without being swept:

1942-44 Cardinals: 125

1903-05 Giants: 106

1922-24 Yankees: 83

2022-pres. Orioles: 80 ** active streak extended w/TOR series

Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman has been on the roster for 79 of those 80 series', so he has never been swept in his entire career, which puts him in baseball history as well.

Also per Langs:

most consecutive series of 2+ games played in without being swept, to start career since 1900:

1941-44 Whitey Kurowski: 110 2022-pres.

Adley Rutschman: 79 ** active streak extended w/TOR series

It's no coincidence that this streak coincides with Rutchman's tenure in the big leagues. His ability to handle a pitching staff, and hit in the top or middle of the order, has helped solidify the Orioles' turnaround.

He's hitting .273 this season with 16 homers and 61 RBI. He's got a .795 OPS and made his first All-Star team this year.

The Orioles and Blue Jays play each other again on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. ET.
