As Miami Marlins hitting savant Luis Arraez chases the first .400 batting average for a season since 1941, there are several amazing things that stand out.

But nothing may stand out more than this particular stat, which was put out by Danny Vietti of CBS Sports:

Luis Arraez has seen 1,099 total pitches this season. He has swung and missed 28 times.

In an era where striking out is more prevalent than ever before, Arraez's ability to just the ball in play is breathtaking.

Acquired by Miami in an offseason trade with the Minnesota Twins, Arraez is hitting .399 this season with three homers and 37 RBI. He's also posted a massive .451 on-base percentage and is well on his way to winning a second straight batting title.

He also has struck out just 15 times this season, which is less than his 24 walks. In today's game, walking more than you strike out is also extremely rare.

He currently leads baseball in hits (111), batting average, on-base percentage and OPS+ (161). He's also been walked intentionally a league-best seven times as pitchers simply don't want to throw to him.

He's well on his way to his second All-Star appearance and is on pace to garner serious MVP votes as well.

The Marlins are one of the surprise teams in all of baseball, currently owning the top spot in the National League wild card race.

Miami hasn't made the playoffs since the 2020 COVID season hasn't won the World Series since beating the Yankees in 2003.

They'll play the Red Sox on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. ET.
