The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night, 3-2, in extra innings.

Rookie Corbin Carroll had the walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to move the Diamondbacks to 52-38 on the year. They are 0.5 games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.

The Pirates fell to 40-49 in the loss as they continue to slip in the National League Central.

It's been a dream first half for Carroll, as the rookie was recently named to his first All-Star team. He's hitting .292 this year with 18 homers, 48 RBI and 26 stolen bases. He's the clear front runner for the National League Rookie of the Year award and has an outside shot at the National League MVP.

His walk-off hit also put him in some elite baseball company, per ESPN Stats & Info:

Since the first MLB All-Star Game in 1933, there have been three players to rack up 15 home runs, 25 stolen bases, and 2 walk-off hits before the All-Star Break in a season:

 1973 Bobby Bonds

2011 Matt Kemp

2023 Corbin Carroll

Carroll is the only rookie to do it.

Carroll is a major reason for the Diamondbacks' resurgence this season, as the team has a chance to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

The Diamondbacks will finish out the first half of the season on Sunday against the Pirates. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET as Zach Davies (1-4, 6.52) gets the ball for Arizona.
