It's been a very special year for Arizona Diamondbacks rookie Corbin Carroll, who is the front runner for the National League Rookie of the Year.

He went 2-for-5 on Thursday night in a 6-2 win over the Chicago Cubs, stealing his 42nd base of the year in the process.

He's also nearing the top of a very impressive list in baseball history because of his power-speed combination.

Per @StatsCentre:

Most stolen bases in a season by a 20+ home run hitting rookie - MLB history:

49- Mike Trout (2012)

44- Tommie Agee (1966)

42- Corbin Carroll (2023 via swiping 1 in tonight's 6-2 @Dbacks win over the Cubs)

42- Mitchell Page (1977)

32- Devon White (1987)

30- Bobby Witt Jr. (2022)

That's certainly an impressive list to be on, nevertheless be near the top of. With more than 20 games to play in the season, Carroll will have a chance to move up the list and perhaps even surpass Trout's 49 steals and get to 50.

He's got 24 homers and 68 RBI as well. He's hitting .281 and made his first All-Star Game this past summer, which was held in his hometown of Seattle, Wash.

After the win on Thursday night, the Diamondbacks are now 73-68 and in sole possession of the third and final wild card spot in the National League. They lead the Miami Marlins and Cincinnati Reds for that spot. Both are 0.5 games back.

The Diamondbacks will play the Cubs again on Friday afternoon.

First pitch is set for 2:20 p.m. ET.
