Atlanta Braves' Charlie Morton Continues Historic Dominance of Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers came back and beat the Atlanta Braves on Monday night by a score of 6-5 in extra innings. The Tigers got one in the eighth and three in the ninth to even force the extra frame.
The win by the Tigers snapped a nine-game losing streak and moved them to 27-37 on the season.
Despite the team loss, Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton was dominant against Detroit, going 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out eight.
With the no decision, he's 5-6 with a 3.60 ERA on the year. He's now struck out 85 batters in 75 innings.
Morton's strong Monday start continued a string of historic dominance against the Tigers.

Morton is in his 16th season in the big leagues with the Pirates, Phillies, Astros, Rays and Braves. He helped the Astros win the 2017 World Series and got to the World Series in 2020 with Tampa Bay.
For his career, the 39-year-old is 121-107 with a 4.01 ERA.
The loss dropped Atlanta to 40-26 on the year. They are still in first place in the National League East.
The two teams will play again on Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. ET.
