Atlanta Braves Use Historic Comeback to Even Up NLDS with Phillies
The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 on Monday night to even up the National League Division Series at one game apiece.
As the series shifts to Philadelphia, each team is just two wins away from the National League Championship Series.
This was a wild game that saw the Braves erase a 4-0 deficit to come back and ended on an insane double play in the top of the ninth inning.
You can see that play here, which began with a smash to right-center field off the bat of Nick Castellanos.
The Braves wouldn't even have been in a position to win the game if not for a historic comeback, which was fueled by a two-run home run by Travis D'Arnaud and another by Austin Riley. D'Arnaud's home run was hit in the bottom of the seventh off of Zack Wheeler while Riley's came with two outs in the eighth off Jeff Hoffman.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
a 4-run comeback win ties the largest comeback win in Braves postseason history, along with:
2010 NLDS G2 at SF
The Braves won an MLB-best 104 games this season for a reason. With that offense, they are simply never out of a game.
Riley, D'Arnaud, Ozzie Albies, Matt Olson, Sean Murphy, Marcell Ozuna, Michael Harris, Eddie Rosario and Ronald Acuna Jr. all have power that can help erase a deficit in a heartbeat.
Game 3 of the series will take place on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is set for 5:07 p.m. ET.
