MVP-Hopeful Ronald Acuna Jr. Joins Another Ridiculous Club After Huge Night
The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-3 on Tuesday night behind, yet again, the offensive ability of MVP-hopeful Ronald Acuna Jr.
The incredible outfielder went 3-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, three runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base as he strengthens his case for the postseason hardware.
Acuna Jr. is putting up one of the most incredible seasons we've ever seen. He's hitting .338 with 39 homers, 100 RBI and a whopping 67 stolen bases. He's got an OPS of 1.014 and will be battling with teammate Matt Olson and Dodgers Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts for the MVP.
He's also making history at seemingly every turn.
Per Braves Insider Grant McAuley:
#Braves RF Ronald Acuña Jr. just reached 100 RBI. He also matched Mookie Betts with his 39th HR and is now the fourth man in MLB history to collect 100+ RBI from the leadoff spot. Betts (103 RBI) became the third on September 11 of this season.
Lifetime, Acuna Jr. is a .292 hitter with 159 homers, 396 RBI and 174 stolen bases. He made the All-Star team again this season and is looking to help the Braves win their second World Series title in the last three years.
Atlanta has the best record in baseball at 97-54 and is shooting to lock up the No. 1 overall seed in the National League playoffs.
They'll take on the Phillies again on Wednesday afternoon.
First pitch is set for 12:20 p.m. ET as Aaron Nola (PHI) goes up against Bryce Elder (ATL).
