Atlanta Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. Keeps Making Baseball History
The Atlanta Braves sent a statement to the upstart Miami Marlins on Friday, beating their National League East rivals, 16-4.
Miami is one of the best stories in baseball but they were no match for the best team in the National League.
With the win, the Braves moved to 54-27 while the loss dropped the Marlins to 48-35.
In the victory, Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. went 2-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. He also hit his 20th home run of the season as he continues to re-write the baseball history books.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com on Twitter:
Ronald Acuña Jr is the first player with 20+ HR & 35+ SB before the All-Star break AND THERE'S STILL A WEEK-PLUS BEFORE THE BREAK
Acuna Jr. is putting up an MVP-caliber season thus far as he's hitting .334 with the 20 homers, 53 RBI and 37 stolen bases. He's staring down the pace of a 40-homer, 70 steal season.
For his career, he's a .285 hitter with 140 homers, 349 RBI and 144 steals. He was just named an All-Star Game starter and will be joining baseball's best in Seattle next month.
The Braves and Marlins will battle again on Saturday afternoon at Truist Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET as Marlins youngster Eury Perez (5-1, 1.34 ERA) pitches against Braves veteran Charlie Morton (7-4, 3.81 ERA).
Atlanta is now 7.0 games up on the Marlins in the division while Miami leads the National League wild card race.
