Atlanta Braves' Ronald Acuna On Pace For Incredible Baseball History
Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. is on pace for baseball immortality.
It doesn't mean that he'll get there, but he's on pace for it.
With another home run on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers, Acuna Jr. is on pace for a 40 home run, 60 stolen base season. That's never been done before in baseball history, as Braves Insider Grant McAuley noted on Twitter:
It's #Braves Game No. 43 and Ronald Acuña Jr. has officially arrived on a 40/40 trajectory. Actually, its 40/60. Something that's never been done in MLB history.
Acuna is clearly off to an incredible start for the Braves, who are one of the best teams in all of baseball. As of this posting, he is 1-3 on the night with the home run. He's now hitting .347 and has 11 home runs with 27 RBI and 17 stolen bases.
His average is second in baseball to Luis Arraez (.389), while he's tied for sixth in homers. His stolen base total is is actually second in baseball to Esteury Ruiz of the Athletics.
Acuna also leads the league in runs scored with 39 and slugging at .617.
For his career, he's a .283 hitter with 131 homers and 124 steals. He has an even .900 OPS.
The 25-year-old was named to the All-Star team in 2019, 2021 and 2022. He's also won the Rookie of the Year (2018) and received MVP votes in three separate seasons.
At the time of this posting, the Braves trail the Rangers, 4-3, in the seventh inning.
