Atlanta Braves' Game 1 Loss Marks End of Longest Streak in Last 125 Years of Team History

The Atlanta Braves were shut out on Saturday night in Game 1 of the NLDS, marking the end of one of the longest streaks in franchise history.

The bats went silent on Saturday night for the Atlanta Braves as they were shut out by the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

The Braves lost the game 3-0 and now trail 1-0 in the best-of-five series. For the team who won the most games in baseball this regular season, they instantly find themselves with their backs against the wall.

Atlanta mustered just five hits in the defeat and the loss marked the end of one of the most impressive streaks in franchise history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

This is the first time the Braves have been shut out in any game since losing 3-0 to the Blue Jays on May 12.

The streak of 124 games with at least one run was the 2nd-longest in team history, shorter only than a 160-game streak from 1893-95.

We're talking about a streak that has been the best in more than 125 years, so that's very, very noteworthy.

Life gets even tougher for the Braves moving forward because the Phillies now have their pitching set up to their advantage. Zack Wheeler will get the ball in Game 2 with Aaron Nola set to pitch in Game 3.

The Braves will have an off-day on Sunday to regroup and come up with a better offensive plan.

Game 2 of the series will be played on Monday night. First pitch from Truist Park will come at 6:07 p.m. ET as Wheeler (PHI) pitches against Max Fried (ATL).

Fried battled multiple injuries this year but did go 8-1 over 14 games.
