Ronald Acuna of the Atlanta Braves Just Did Something That No Baseball Player Has Ever Done

Ronald Acuna Jr. made history on Saturday night!

Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. made baseball history on Saturday night by stealing his 50th base of the year.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Ronald Acuña Jr. recorded his 50th stolen base of the season in the 1st inning of tonight's Brewers-Braves game.

He's the first player in MLB history with at least 20 home runs and 50 steals before August.

Acuna is just having an insane year, one that should lead him to winning the National League MVP. He's hitting .331 with 23 homers, 59 RBI and the 50 steals. He's also boasting a .983 OPS and is the tablesetter for a Braves lineup that is the most powerful in baseball.

Armed with Acuna, and sluggers like Austin Riley, Matt Olson, Orlando Arcia, Ozzie Albies and Sean Murphy, the Braves are on a short list of World Series contenders. They entered play on Saturday with the best record in baseball and the biggest division lead in baseball.

At the time of this posting, the Braves lead the Brewers, 6-0, in the second inning. If they are able to win, they'll move to 66-36 on the year.

The Braves and Brewers will finish out their series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m. ET in Atlanta at Colin Rea pitches for Milwaukee against TBD.

The Braves will start a new series on Monday night when they host Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels at Truist Park.

Ohtani will not pitch in that series. He'll next start on Thursday.
