The Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday by a score of 6-1. 

New O's pitcher Jack Flaherty, acquired at the trade deadline from the St. Louis Cardinals, went six innings in his team debut. He allowed just four hits and struck out eight. He moved to 8-6 on the season.

On the offensive side, Ryan Mountcastle carried the load, going 4-for-4. It was a history-making series for Mountcastle.

that’s the highest batting average in a 4-game series in Orioles/Browns history (min 10 PA) and 2nd-highest in a series of at least 3 gms in franchise history (min 10 PA), behind 

1993 Harold Baines’ .889 in a 3-game set vs KC (8-for-9)

The right-handed slugger is hitting .267 this season with 13 homers and 49 RBI. He's also stolen three bases and registered a .780 OPS.

He's in his fourth season with the Orioles after having debuted in 2020. He's a .262 hitter lifetime with 73 homers and 246 RBI.

After another series win, the O's are now an American-League best 67-42. They lead the American League East by 2.0 games over the Tampa Bay Rays, who are 66-45.

Baltimore will be back in action on Friday night against the recently-gutted New York Mets. First pitch from Camden Yards will be 7:05 p.m. ET as Dean Kremer (BAL) pitches against David Peterson (NYM).

Kremer is 10-4 on the year with a 4.66 ERA.

Peterson is 3-7 with a 5.92.
