Boston Red Sox' Rafael Devers Joins Pair of Hall of Famers in Team History

By hitting two home runs on Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies, Boston Red Sox star Rafael Devers now has the third most home runs in team history through his first 754 games, provided that all of those games were played with the Red Sox. He joined a pair of Baseball Hall of Famers on that list.

The bad news is that the Boston Red Sox lost to the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night by a score of 7-6. It was the third consecutive extra-inning game for the Sox and the second straight extra-inning loss.

The good news is that Sox star Rafael Devers is starting to come out of his funk. He homered a few times in New York over the weekend and blasted two home runs against Colorado on Tuesday.

With those two home runs, Devers has joined a pair of Baseball Hall of Famers on an impressive list in team history.

The popular Red Sox twitter account @BostonSportsInf had this:

Rafael Devers

Most HR’s in their first 754 career games, that started their career with the Red Sox

1. Ted Williams - 170

2. Jim Rice - 162

3. Rafael Devers - 156

nice list

Yes, that is definitely a nice list to be a part of. Any time you can join Williams and Rice on a list in team history, you've done something noteworthy.

With the multi-home run effort, Devers is now hitting .247 with 17 homers and 56 RBI. He's got an OPS of .811.

For his career, he's a .279 hitter with 156 homers and 511 RBI. He helped the Red Sox win the 2018 World Series and just signed a 10-year contract extension this winter.

With the loss, the Sox are now 33-35 on the season while the Rockies moved to 29-40. Boston has lost seven of their last 10 games and is 14.5 games behind the Rays in the American League East.
