Palacios Brothers Do Something That's Never Been Done Before on Tuesday Night
There have been great brother duos in the history of baseball. The Boone's, the Upton's, and the Ripken's, to name a few.
None of them ever did what Joshua and Richie Palacios accomplished on Tuesday night.
Per @OptaSTATS on social media:
Joshua and Richie Palacios today for the @Pirates and @Cardinals:
3 home runs (Richie 2, Joshua 1)
1 stolen base (Joshua)
1 outfield assist (Joshua)
No other pair of brothers in MLB history has combined to put up those numbers on a single day.
Yup, that's random and niche but it's still very cool.
The Pirates beat the Nationals 5-1 as Joshua went 2-for-4 with two RBI and the home run. He's now hitting .224 this season with eight homers and 32 RBI. The 28-year-old is in his third major league season with the Blue Jays, Nationals and Pirates.
As for Richie and the Cardinals? They beat the Orioles 5-2. Richie's efforts helped back Adam Wainwright, who recorded his 199th career win on the mound. He went 2-for-3 with the two home runs. He replaced Nolan Gorman, who left with injury.
Richie is now hitting .317 with three homers and eight RBI. He's 26-years-old and is in his second major league season with the Cleveland Guardians and Cardinals. He's played in 16 games since his call-up.
Joshua and the Pirates will play the Nationals again on Wednesday night. First pitch from Pittsburgh is set for 6:35 p.m. ET.
Richie and the Cardinals will play the Orioles on Wednesday night also. First pitch is 6:35 p.m. ET.
