While almost all of the focus on Wednesday's Reds victory over the Washington Nationals will be on the Elly De La Cruz bat saga, it shouldn't be ignored that the Reds are making baseball history this year.
The Reds beat the Nationals, 9-2, after getting down 1-0 in the first inning.
While the Reds ended up blowing out Washington, that still counts as a come-from-behind victory, which continued a Reds history-making stretch.
Per @OptaSTATS on Twitter:
The Cincinnati @Reds completed their 31st comeback win in their 87th game this year. In the last 50 seasons, only two MLB teams have had more comeback wins in their first 87 games of a season, the 2004 New York Yankees and the 1999 Cleveland Indians, both with 34.

It's been a magical season for Cincinnati, who now sits at 48-39 and 2.0 games up in the National League Central. The Reds haven't made the playoffs since the COVID-shortened 2020 season so this year has been a welcome experience for fans.
It's also been nice because the Reds rebuilding plan has come to fruition. Armed with prospects like Elly De La Cruz, Spencer Steer, Andrew Abbott and Matt McLain, the guys that the Reds planned to build around have been major contributors, which is an organizational win.
The Reds will finish out the series with the Nationals on Thursday at 1:05 p.m. before wrapping up the first half with a critical divisional series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee is currently 2.0 games behind in the division race.
