The Cincinnati Reds offense is going cold at the most inopportune time. The Reds have been shut out in three consecutive games by the Milwaukee Brewers, the team they are battling with in the National League Central.

The Reds have gone from 2.0 games up in the division to 1.0 game back over those three games. They are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

The Reds offense has been so futile that it's making history, in a very bad way.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

The Reds are the 1st team in at least 130 years with 0 Runs & less than 8 Hits in a 3-game span.

The Reds got just one hit in Saturday's loss, a single from Jake Fraley. In addition to the lack of hits, the team is also striking out a lot. Cincinnati struck out 12 times against Brewers pitching, marking a third straight game of double-digit strikeouts.

The Reds will look to turn it around on Sunday afternoon when they play Milwaukee again. Game time is slated for 1:40 p.m. ET as Adrian Houser pitches for the Brewers and Ben Lively pitches for the Reds.

Houser enters the game at 3-2 with a 3.68 ERA while Lively is 4-5 with a 3.83.

The Reds are 50-43 while Milwaukee is 51-42. According to the gambling website Fanduel, the Brewers are still the favorite to win the National League Central. The Reds are at plus-165, and the Brewers are at plus-105.

The Reds will be back it again on Monday when they host the San Francisco Giants at the Great American Ball Park. First pitch in that one is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Brandon Williamson is starting for Cincinnati against Giants ace Logan Webb. According to Fanduel, the Giants are favored at minus-160, and the over/under is 10.
