Clayton Kershaw of Los Angeles Dodgers Ties Hall of Famer in Franchise Record Books
The Los Angeles Dodgers rolled over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night by a score of 9-1.
It continues a great stretch for Los Angeles, who is now 82-49 on the year. They are just 4.0 games behind the Atlanta Braves in the race for the No. 1 seed in the looming National League playoffs.
While Mookie Betts hit his 36th homer of the season, the night also belonged to Dodgers legend Clayton Kershaw.
The veteran lefty went 5.0 innings, surrendering one run on three hits. He struck out five and moved to 12-4 on the year. He also lowered his ERA to 2.48 and tied Don Drysdale for the second-most wins in team history at 209.
According to StatsCentre:
Going 5 IP with 1 ER and 3 hits while fanning 5 in Tuesday's 9-1 win vs the Diamondbacks, Clayton Kershaw has tied a Baseball Hall Of Fame hurler and now only trails another on this all-time @Dodgers franchise pitching list (on which only 1 of the 6 other names isn't in the HOF)
Don Sutton has the most wins in Dodgers team history at 233, so Kershaw is 24 behind him but will move into sole possession of second place with his next win.
The future Hall of Famer has struck out 120 batters in 112.1 innings and remains a critical part of the rotation for the Dodgers, especially in the wake of season-ending injuries to Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May.
Lifetime, Kershaw is one of the most accomplished players of his generation. He's got the 209 wins with a lifetime 2.48 ERA. He's a three-time Cy Young winner and a former MVP.
