Colorado Rockies Make Incredible Baseball History as Milwaukee Brewers Bullpen Has Historic Meltdown
So, you think you've seen everything you can see in baseball?
Think again.
The Colorado Rockies beat the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night by a score of 7-3. The Rockies won the game in extra-innings by scoring four runs in the 10th in historic fashion.
Per @OptaSTATS on Twitter:
Since pitches were first tracked in 1988, the @Rockies are the only MLB team to draw 3 consecutive bases-loaded walks without a strike being thrown in any of them.
Cole Tucker walked to score the first run while Ezequiel Tovar walked to score the second run, and Ryan McMahon walked to score the third run. Nolan Jones hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the final run of the frame.
It was a serious bullpen meltdown from the Brewers, who got the implosion from a combination of Andrew Chafin and Abner Uribe.
Chafin walked two and allowed four total runs in 0.0 innings and Uribe walked two more in his 1.0 inning of work.
The win moved the Rockies to 45-68 on the season. They are mired in a rebuild that has them as the worst team in the National League. The game was much more critical for the Brewers, who are battling for a playoff spot.
At 61-54, they still hold a 1.5 game lead over the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central, but they have lost four of their last six games.
The two teams will finish out the series on Wednesday afternoon.
First pitch is 2:10 p.m. ET as Chris Flexen (COL) pitches against Adrian Houser (MIL).
