The Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night by a score of 6-0.

The win moved the Tigers to 50-63 on the season while the loss dropped Minnesota to 60-55. The Twins are 4.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central.

While the end result was certainly important, the biggest part of the game was Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera going 2-for-4 and continuing his pursuit of baseball history.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Cabrera finished the day with two hits, moving him into a tie with Robin Yount for No. 19 on the all-time MLB hits list (3,142).

Next up for Miggy is Pirates legend Paul Waner, who had 3,152 hits.

Cabrera is retiring after the year and is doing his best to make it a memorable end to his career.

He's been downgraded to a part-time player this year, appearing in just 66 games. He's hitting a very respectable .255 but has been devoid of power, hitting just one home run and having 17 RBI.

That shouldn't take a way from what is a surefire Hall of Fame career. One of the most accomplished hitters in baseball history, Cabrera is a .307 lifetime hitter. He's a member of both the 3,000 hit club and the 500-home run club (508). He's a 12-time All-Star, a seven-time Silver Slugger, a four-time batting champion, an MVP and a Triple Crown winner.

He also won the 2003 World Series with the Marlins.

He's in his 21st year in the big leagues with the Marlins and Tigers, having spent the last 16 in Detroit.
