The Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins on Thursday afternoon by a score of 3-0.

The Tigers got an impressive pitching performance from Reese Olson, who went six shutout innings while striking out eight.

Offensively, they were carried by Riley Greene, who went 2-for-4 with a massive home run that made Tigers history at Comerica Park.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Tigers’ longest HR at Comerica Park, tracked by Statcast (2015):

7/21/15 J.D. Martinez: 467 ft

6/29/16 Miguel Cabrera: 459 ft

6/20/16 Miguel Cabrera: 454 ft

6/14/15 Miguel Cabrera: 454 ft

Today Riley Greene: 453 ft

6/13/17 J.D. Martinez: 453 ft

Sure, Statcast is only a little less than a decade old, but that's still putting yourself in elite company in modern franchise lore.

Though he spent some time on the injured list this year, Greene is having an excellent second season in the big leagues. He's hitting .301 with 10 home runs and 27 RBI. He's also stolen six bases and has posted an OPS of .839.

The former first-round pick is just 22 years old and represents a significant portion of the Tigers future core, alongside Spencer Torkelson and pitchers Casey Mize, Tarik Skubal and Matt Manning.

After the win, the Tigers are 52-63 while the Twins dropped to 60-57. Minnesota now just leads the American League Central by 3.5 games over Cleveland.

The Tigers open up a new series on Friday night when they head to Boston to take on the Red Sox. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET.
