Houston Astros' Jose Altuve Sits Aside New York Yankees Legends in Playoff Record Books

The Houston Astros may have lost in Game 6 of the ALCS on Sunday night, but former MVP Jose Altuve did his part, continuing to solidify himself in playoff lore.

The Houston Astros lost Game 6 of the ALCS on Sunday night 9-2 to the Texas Rangers.

As a result, the home team has lost every game of this series heading into Game 7, which will be played on Monday night at Minute Maid Park.

Though the Astros lost, Jose Altuve did his part. The diminutive slugger went 2-for-5 in the loss and is now hitting .273 this postseason.

Altuve is a playoff legend, boasting a career .271 playoff average with 26 homers and 54 RBI. He's been a part of Astros teams that have gone to seven straight ALCS. He's also played in four World Series' and is looking for his fifth appearance this year.

This regular season was an odd one for Altuve, who missed multiple months at the beginning of the season with an injury sustained in the World Baseball Classic. As a result, he only played in 90 games, but he still produced when healthy. Altuve hit .311 with 17 home runs and 51 RBI - all while posting a .393 on-base percentage.

He helped lead the Astros to another American League West title, which they won on the final day of the regular season.

Lifetime, Altuve is a .307 hitter with 209 home runs and 293 stolen bases. He is an eight-time All-Star, a six-time Silver Slugger, a three-time batting champion, a Gold Glover and an MVP winner.

Game 7 begins at 8:03 p.m. ET on Monday night. Max Scherzer (TEX) pitches against Cristian Javier (HOU).
