Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer to Make Amazing Baseball History with Matchup on Wednesday
The Houston Astros pummeled the Texas Rangers on Tuesday 14-1 as Jose Altuve made some incredible baseball history at the plate.
The win moved the Astros to 79-61 and into first place in the American League West. They lead the Seattle Mariners by 1.0 game.
The loss dropped the Rangers to 76-62. They trail the Astros by 2.0 games and have fallen out of the wild card race, trailing the Toronto Blue Jays by 0.5 games.
When the Astros and Rangers meet again on Wednesday night, it will be under the backdrop of some more amazing baseball history.

The two players were teammates with the New York Mets earlier this year before being traded and were also teammates with the Detroit Tigers prior. They are two of the most accomplished pitchers of the 2000s and are both destined for the Hall of Fame.
Verlander is in his 18th year in the big leagues with the Tigers, Astros and Mets. He's a nine-time All-Star, a three-time Cy Young winner, an MVP and a Rookie of the Year.
As for Scherzer, he's in his 16th year with the Diamondbacks, Tigers, Nationals, Dodgers, Mets and Rangers. He's an eight-time All-Star and is also a three-time Cy Young award winner.
