Kansas City Royals Superstar Bobby Witt Jr. on Verge of Doing Something That's Never Been Done By a Royal Before

Kansas City Royals superstar Bobby Witt Jr. is on the verge of becoming the first player in franchise history to record a 30/30 season.

The Kansas City Royals are the second-worst team in baseball this year, but even bad teams can have great players and great moments.

And that's what about to happen in Kansas City, as superstar infielder Bobby Witt Jr. is on the verge of accomplishing something that no player in team history has ever accomplished.

Per Bally Sports Kansas City:

Bobby Witt Jr. is now one home run away from becoming the first 30/30 player in #Royals history

Only four players in team history have ever gone 20/20, so this would be quite a feat for the second-year player.

A former first-round pick of the Royals in 2019, the 23-year-old Witt is one of the best players in the game already. He's hitting .280 this season with 29 homers, 90 RBI and a whopping 47 stolen bases. He's posted an .823 OPS and is helping the Royals play spoiler in the AL playoff picture.

They've beaten the Houston Astros each of the last two games, who lead the American League West.

Witt Jr. made his debut in 2022 and is a lifetime .267 hitter with 49 homers, 170 RBI and 77 stolen bases.

He is the centerpiece of the Royals franchise and the guy to which all future hopes are pinned.

The Royals will take on the Astros again on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 2:10 p.m. ET as Astros' ace Framber Valdez goes up against Jordan Lyles.

Valdez is 11-10 with a 3.32 ERA while Lyles is 4-16 with a 6.44.
