Kansas City Royals' OF Shows Off Dominant Arm in Thursday Night Win
The Kansas City Royals rocked the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night, 10-1, at Kauffman Stadium.
With the win, the Royals improved to 3-4 on the young season while the White Sox fell to 1-5. While the final score was lopsided, this game was actually 2-1 into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Royals scored eight runs in the seventh to bust it open.
Offensively, the Royals pounded out 10 hits in the win, with two coming from Bobby Witt Jr., two coming from MJ Melendez and two from Nelson Velazquez.
Veteran Hunter Renfroe went 1-for-3 in the win but his biggest contribution came in the field, where he threw out a runner attempting to score in the sixth inning that would have tied the game. That is something he has excelled at more than anyone else over the last several years.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
Hunter Renfroe now has 66 OF assists since the start of 2017, 8 more than anyone else in MLB in that span
The veteran is known as having a great throwing arm and he has shown that off no matter where he's played. The 32-year-old has spent time with the San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Cincinnati Reds and Royals in his career.
In addition to his throwing arm, he has hit more than 25 home runs in five different seasons.
The Royals will take on the White Sox again on Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:40 p.m. ET.
