Los Angeles Angels Do Something Not Done in More Than 90 Years in Win vs. Astros

The Los Angeles had a thrilling and historic win vs. the Houston Astros on Saturday night.

The Los Angeles Angels had a thrilling - and historic win - vs. the Houston Astros on Saturday night in Anaheim.

The Angels beat the Astros, 13-12 in 10 innings to move to within a game .500 at 46-47.

The win was back-and-forth all night as the Angels took a 3-0 lead, got down 4-3, then 9-3, then tied the game at 9-9. The Astros then went up 12-9 before the Angels scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie it at 12-12. The Angels eventually walked it off in the bottom of the tenth.

Due to the nature of the game, the game accomplished something that hadn't been done for more than 90 years.

Per @OptaSTATS on Twitter:

The @Angels are the first MLB team to face a 6+ run deficit in the 7th inning or later, erase that deficit, then fall behind again by 3+ runs and yet still win the game since the Phillies did so against the Pirates on September 16, 1930.

Every win is vital for the Angels as they try to stay in the playoff race, and as they try to figure out what to do with Shohei Ohtani as the deadline approaches.

The Halos are now tied for third place in the American League West, 8.0 games off the pace. They are now 5.0 games back in the wild card race.

The Angels and Astros will play again on Sunday Night Baseball. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Cristian Javier pitches for Houston against Tyler Anderson.
