The Los Angeles Angels acquired both Randal Grichuk and C.J. Cron on Sunday in a pre-trade deadline deal with the Colorado Rockies.

On Monday, the deal instantly paid off as both players helped the Angels beat the Atlanta Braves - the best team in baseball.

Grichuk homered in the first inning while Cron brought home a run with a single in the ninth.

The duo made some unique baseball history, doing something that hasn't been done in more than 20 years.

Per @OptaSTATS on Twitter:

Randal Grichuk and C.J. Cron of the @Angels are the first pair of MLB teammates to each have an RBI in their first game after being dealt in the same midseason trade since Harold Baines and Charles Johnson did so for the White Sox on August 1, 2000 (traded from Baltimore).

It was a huge win for the Angels, who are going for their first playoff appearance since 2014. They are also trying to entice superstar Shohei Ohtani to stay in Los Angeles this offseason, and they've gone all-in trying to help this team. They've acquired Grichuk, Cron, Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez, Eduardo Escobar and Mike Moustakas already this year.

The Angels are just 4.5 games back in the American League West and 3.0 games back in the chase for the third and final wild card spot.

The Angels are 55-51 while the Braves fell to 67-37.

The two teams will play again on Tuesday night with first pitch slated for 7:20 p.m. ET. Patrick Sandoval (LAA) pitches against Spencer Strider (ATL).
