Every single day there is a new Shohei Ohtani fact or nugget. The Los Angeles Angels two-way star is making baseball history at every turn and continued that on Wednesday in an 11-5 loss to the Chicago White Sox.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Shohei Ohtani has played 80 games in 2023. He leads MLB in home runs (28) and shares the lead in triples (5).

It's the latest into a season that a player has led in both categories since 1978, when Jim Rice played 163 games and finished the season leading in HR (46) and 3B (15).

Ohtani went 3-5 with a triple in the loss to the White Sox but he just continues to rake at the plate. He's now hitting .309 with the 28 homers, 64 RBI and 11 stolen bases. His OPS is an absurd 1.048.

Of course, when you talk about Ohtani, you don't just talk about hitting. On the mound, he's one of the most productive pitchers in baseball. Thus far he's 7-3 with a 3.02 ERA. He's struck out 127 batters in 95.1 innings.

It's been an unbelievable year in general for Ohtani. In addition to the year he's having right now, he helped lead Team Japan to the World Baseball Classic title this spring. He's also aiming for his second MVP award and is looking to lead the Angels to the playoffs for the first since 2014.

The Angels are currently 44-38 and will take on the White Sox on Thursday. First pitch is slated for 4:07 p.m. ET.
