Los Angeles Dodgers' Mookie Betts Does Something That No One in Baseball History Has Done on Friday
It was just the other day that we told you about Mookie Betts adding to his own list of historic achievements.
Now? The Los Angeles Dodgers star is accomplishing more history, doing something on Friday night against the New York Yankees that's never been done before.
Per @OptaSTATS on Twitter:
Tonight the @Dodgers' Mookie Betts:
- notched 4+ hits
- hit multiple HR
- hit a leadoff HR
- had a multi-hit inning
- stole a base
He's the only MLB player in the modern era to do all of that in the same game
The Dodgers beat the Yankees on Friday by a score of 8-4 with Betts certainly carrying the load offensively. He went 4-4 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBI.
For the season, he's hitting .266 with 15 homers, 36 RBI and three stolen bases. He's posted a .922 OPS this year.
Acquired by the Dodgers before the 2020 season, Betts is one of the best players of his generation.
He's a two-time World Champion (2018, 2020), a six-time All-Star, a six-time Gold Glover, a batting champion, a five-time Silver Slugger and an MVP.
Lifetime, he's a .292 hitter with 228 homers, 685 RBI and 161 stolen bases.
With the win, the Dodgers are now 35-23 on the season and are tied for first place in the National League West with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The loss dropped the Yankees to 34-25 on the year. They are 6.5 back in the AL East of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. ET.
