Los Angeles Dodgers Star Mookie Extends His All-Time Lead in This Awesome Category
Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts hit two home runs on Saturday in a 3-1 win over the Miami Marlins at Dodger Stadium.
The win helped complete a doubleheader sweep for the Dodgers, who played two on Saturday as part of reshuffling in advance of Hurricane Hilary.
With the two home run home performance, Betts continued to pad his lead in this all-time baseball category.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
most career multi-home run games out of leadoff spot:
Mookie Betts: 25
George Springer: 19
Alfonso Soriano: 19
Kyle Schwarber: 15
Brady Anderson: 14
Joc Pederson: 13
Bobby Bonds: 13
Betts continues to be an offensive force this year. He's hitting .298 through 457 at-bats with 34 home runs and 86 RBI. He's also got eight stolen bases and a .989 OPS.
He's a major reason why the Dodgers are the hottest team in baseball, having won 13 of their last 14 games. Los Angeles is now 76-47 and owns the second-best record in the National League, behind only the Atlanta Braves.
Betts is a lifetime .293 hitter who is in his 10th year in the big leagues with the Red Sox and Dodgers. He's been named to seven All-Star teams, has won six Gold Gloves, five Silver Slugger awards, a batting title and an MVP award. He's also won the World Series in 2018 and 2020.
Because of the schedule adjustment, the Dodgers will be off on Sunday and Monday. They'll next play on Tuesday on the road at the Cleveland Guardians.
