In this story:

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Kansas City Royals on Saturday by a score of 6-4. The Royals scored five runs in the first inning to fuel the victory, which moved them 24-59 on the season.

The loss dropped LA to 46-36. They are in second place in the National League West and trail the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks by three games.

Even in a loss, Dodgers star Mookie Betts had another productive game, going 1-2 with a double, an RBI and two walks.

However, despite his effort, he saw a history-making streak he was on come to an end:

Per @OptaSTATS on Twitter:

Mookie Betts' 4th-inning groundout for the @Dodgers tonight snapped his streak of 15 consecutive plate appearances without having a hitless at-bat (he went 7-for-7 with 6 BB & 2 SF during that stretch).

That's tied for the longest streak by any MLB player in the last 50 years.

The group also put out the company that Betts was in with that productivity.

MLB, Most Consecutive PA without a Hitless AB - Last 50 Seasons

15 - Pedro Guerrero, LAD (July 23-27, 1985)

15 - Frank Thomas, CWS (May 16-20, 1997)

15 - Barry Bonds, SF (Aug. 31-Sep. 4, 1998)

15 - John Olerud, NYM (Sep. 16-22, 1998)

15 - Mookie Betts, LAD (June 28-July 1, 2023)

That's a very impressive list that Betts was on, as it includes a Hall of Famer (Thomas), batting champions (Olerud, Thomas) and one of the best players to ever play the game in Bonds.

For the season, Betts is hitting .271 with 22 homers, 56 RBI and seven stolen bases.

He was just named a starter for the National League in the All-Star Game and confirmed that he would participate in the Home Run Derby.

The Dodgers and Royals will play again on Sunday at 2:10 p.m. ET.
